24F OM3-300 MPO Optical Harness Cable / MM OM3 MTP-24 Fiber Optic Trunk Cable Polarity

For a 24F MPO/MTP trunk cable assembly, polarity manages how light transmits (Tx) and receives (Rx) by mapping the 24 individual fiber strands. Since there is no single standardized pinout governing 24F MPO/MTP configurations, the mapping depends on how the equipment and cassettes are designed. The three primary MPO/MTP polarity frameworks adapted for 24F cables operate as follows:

    - Type A Polarity (Straight-Through)

+ Configuration: Fiber 1 maps directly to Fiber 1, Fiber 2 to Fiber 2, and so on up to Fiber 24.

+ The connector keys align key-up to key-down when connected through adapters.

+ Usage: Commonly used in modular cassette deployments where one side acts as Key-up and the other as Key-down to maintain structural orientation.

    - Type B Polarity (Flipped / Reversed)

+ Configuration: Fiber 1 maps to Fiber 24, Fiber 2 maps to Fiber 23, and so on.

+ The connector keys align key-up to key-up.

+ Usage: Best practice for direct point-to-point connections between parallel-optics transceivers (like 100GBASE-SR10 or 400GBASE-SR8).

    - Type C Polarity (Pairwise Swapped)

+ Configuration: Adjacent pairs of fibers are swapped: Fiber 1 swaps with Fiber 2, Fiber 3 with Fiber 4, etc.

+ The connector keys align key-up to key-down when connected through adapters.

+ Usage: Primarily used in MPO-to-LC duplex fanout/breakout cassettes to ensure Tx/Rx swapping without requiring flipped patch cords on the LC side.

    OM3-150 Fiber vs OM3-300 Fiber

    - The MPO-12 Optical Patch Cable / OM3 MTP Fiber Trunk Cable 12F use the 3.0mm mini cable OM3-300 to be its main cable, so that can maximum save the space when install on the fiber optic distribution frame.

    - The OM3-150 and OM3-300 is multimode OM3 fiber, but there are some tiny different between them.

    - OM3-150 supports 10G Ethernet up to 150 meters, while OM3-300 supports 10G Ethernet up to 300 meters and offers double the effective bandwidth.

    - Key different:

    Feature OM3-150 OM3-300
    Max 10G Transmission 150 meters 300 meters
    Effective Modal Bandwidth ≥ 950 MHz⋅km ≥ 2000 MHz⋅km
40G/100G Reach Up to 100 meters Up to 100 meters

    - Both OM3-150 and OM3-300 cables are fully compatible with each other and use the same standard aqua blue jacket.

    - When you need to transfer in short distance that the total cable length less than 150m, you can choose OM3-150 to save cost.  And when you need to transfer in longer distance that more than 150m and within 300m, you should choose OM3-300 to ensure the transfer effect.

    MPO MTP Multimode Connector

    - MPO (Multi-Fiber Push-On) multimode connector is a high-density fiber optic interface that combines multiple fibers (typically 8, 12, or 24) into a single connection.

    - MPO is a fiber connector type while MTP is a registered trademark of an MPO connector manufactured by US Conec, Senko, or other brand.

    - MPO stands for Multi-Fiber Push On. This connector is commonly used to terminate multi-fiber ribbon connections in indoor environments.

    - The MPO MTP connector can be either male or female.

    Female: without pin

    Male: with pin

    - It is widely used in data centers, it is ideal for parallel transmissions (such as 40G or 100G Ethernet) and rapid cable deployment.
